PhD opportunity using echosounder data collected by drone at SLU in Sweden
16 September 2020
The Department of Aquatic Resources at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is looking to recruit a PhD candidate to work with seabirds and forage fish. The student will use Simrad WBT Mini data collected from a SailBuoy in the Baltic Sea.
This project aims to use novel research technologies to link seabird foraging ecology with the abundance and distribution of forage fish to answer the following questions:
- How much forage fish do seabirds need during the breeding season?
- How does spatial and depth distribution of forage fish affect the phenology and breeding success of seabirds?
- How does different locomotion traits (flying and diving capability) between species affect forage fish requirements?
The project is fully funded for 4 years.
Applications close on the 1st of November 2020. For more information, please click here.
