Opportunity at Thünen Institute, Germany for a scientist with a specialization in hydroacoustics

The Thünen Institute of Sea Fisheries of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, is offering a full-time position for a scientist with a specialization in hydroacoustics in Bremerhaven, Germany.
The Thünen Institute has access to three modern fisheries research vessels with state-of-the-art hydroacoustic equipment (EK80 broadband echo sounder, CS90 omnidirectional sonar) and has a number of mobile, stationary and autonomous echo sounders (WBAT, WASSP, ARIS) at its disposal. In 2023, a new vessel, Walther Herwig, will be put into service, along with additional multibeam echosounders and sonars (ME70, MES70). The institute is looking for an employee who can contribute her/his ideas and skills to the further development of the research area and who can take over political advisory tasks of the institute in this field. The scientific focus is to develop analytical tools for the processing of extensive hydroacoustic data sets, e.g. with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data methods.
