Opportunity for fisheries acoustics engineer at IFREMER in Nantes, France
16 March 2020
The Institut Français de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer (IFREMER) is advertising a temporary position for a fisheries acoustics engineer to explore the use of broadband acoustics in environmental impact assessments of renewable marine energy.
IFREMER's EchoSonde project aims to develop an integrated, cost-effective, cabled seabed observatory to monitor the impact of marine renewable energy production on coastal pelagic ecosystems. The candidate will analyze broadband and narrowband acoustic data collected during sea surveys and by the EchoSonde observatory. He/she will segment multispectral acoustic images to delineate homogeneous areas with similar acoustic backscatterers. He/she will investigate the nature of backscatterers by analyzing their spectral signature, as well as the hydrobiological and video samples collected synoptically.
