The benefits of training

Feedback has shown that training consistently provides something valuable for everyone, whether seasoned acoustics veterans or complete newbies.

Some of the positive elements we've identified with training courses include:

  1. The ability to put the world on hold for a brief time and focus on one thing.
  2. Getting together with like-minded individuals.
  3. Meeting face to face with people who live and breathe acoustics and Echoview (both trainers and participants).
  4. Mixing up your thinking and exploring new avenues and possibilities.

Course formats

We provide two broad types of activity for training; these often form part of the same course:

  1. Structured coursework (1-5 days)
Coursework involves a series of structured presentations, demonstrations and hands-on exercises. The aim is to provide in-depth training into the use of Echoview for processing the major types of acoustic data. By necessity, coursework covers a significant amount of acoustic theory.

  2. Interactive problem-solving workshop (1-5 days)
Workshops are less structured and are driven by your specific needs and questions. With a focus on interactive problem solving, workshops typically involve your data and your questions. The aim is to generate templates, solutions, discussions and ideas that you can use directly in your ongoing research.

There is no "typical" training course; each is tailored to your particular needs. We will help you to choose the right blend of coursework and workshop, number of days, topics to cover and questions to focus on.

Some popular formats include:

  1. A 1-day introductory course for complete beginners with limited time, budget and/or processing needs.
  2. 3 days of structured coursework for beginners with more time and/or budget and more immediate processing needs.
  3. A 1-day introductory/refresher course plus 2-day workshop for those who are already involved in acoustics-related projects.
