Future developments

This page provides a general guide to our intentions for development in upcoming Echoview releases.

We fine-tune the feature list for each release based on user feedback and our best understanding of market requirements at the time. Both the release schedule and the feature lists are subject to change at any time.

Release schedule

Targeted final-version release dates for Echoview:

  • Version 5.2: April 2012
  • Version 5.3: August 2012
  • Version 5.4: December 2012
  • Version 5.5: April 2013

Features under consideration

Version 5.2 (items under final consideration)

  • Synchronisation of video files with echograms.
  • Ability to skip the echogram forward to the next user-defined integram value.
  • WMS (Web Map Server) backgrounds for the cruise track view.
  • Resampling of angular position data.
  • Extension of the XxY convolution filter to include a Median statistic.
  • Ability to subset pings by time and along-track distance limits.
  • COM access to single target detection parameters.
  • Manual classification of individual GPS position fixes.
  • Multithreading support for additional operators and operations.

Version 5.3

  • Upgrades to Simrad ME70 data access and presentation.
  • Improvements to Echoview’s existing 3D surface detection algorithm.
  • Addition of ME70 micro-bathymetry capability.
  • Improvements to multibeam school detection process.
  • Multithreading support for multibeam surface and school detection.

This list is the subset of themed development ideas for v5.3. As with every Echoview release, in addition to these themed items we'll add a range of high-value enhancements for all users. These are often difficult to predict due to the evolution of requirements with time.

Version 5.4

  • Upgrades to 4D visualization capability.
  • Convergence of 2D lines and 2D regions with 3D surfaces and 3D regions.
  • Analysis and resampling for ADCP current data.
  • Multithreading support for multibeam target detection.

This list is the subset of themed development ideas for v5.4. As with every Echoview release, in addition to these themed items we'll add a range of high-value enhancements for all users. These are often difficult to predict due to the evolution of requirements with time.

Version 5.5

  • 64-bit memory addressing.
