Future developments
This page provides a general guide to our intentions for development in upcoming Echoview releases.
We fine-tune the feature list for each release based on user feedback and our best understanding of market requirements at the time. Both the release schedule and the feature lists are subject to change at any time.

Features under consideration
Version 5.2
- Synchronisation of video files with echograms.
- Ability to skip the echogram forward to the next user-defined integram value.
- WMS (Web Map Server) backgrounds for the cruise track view.
- Ability for the Cell statistic operator to fill empty cells with a range of representative values.
- Definition and integration of vertical band regions in the cruise track view.
- Extension of the XxY convolution filter to include Minimum, Maximum and Median statistics.
- BlueView SON format update.
Version 5.3 (items currently under final consideration)
- New, georeferenced 4D raw data view for multibeam, omni and imaging sonar data.
- Simrad SX90/SH90 file support.
- Ability to create lines from depth sensor data in Ex60 raw data files.
- COM access to single target detection parameters.
- Ability to copy and paste variables between dataflows.
- A "Go-to" echogram navigation feature based on time, GPS distance or vessel log distance.
- Ability to create new variables using COM.
Version 5.4
- Improvements to multibeam school detection process.
- X x Y x Z convolution filter for multibeam and imaging sonar data.
- Upgrade of "bad data" support: flexible specification of "empty water", "water not sampled" and "replace signal with mean" cases.
- All-in-one operator for "Spike noise" (intermittent peak) removal.
This list is the subset of themed development ideas for v5.4. As with every Echoview release, in addition to these themed items we'll add a range of high-value enhancements for all users. These are often difficult to predict due to the evolution of requirements with time.
Version 5.5 and beyond
- 64-bit memory addressing.
- Improvements to Echoview’s existing 3D surface detection algorithm.
- Addition of ME70 micro-bathymetry capability.
- Multithreading support for additional operators and operations.
- Convergence of 2D lines and 2D regions with 3D surfaces and 3D regions.
- Analysis and resampling for ADCP current data.
- Upgrades to Simrad ME70 data access and presentation.
- Multithreading support for multibeam surface and school detection.
