New Variable dialog box

The New Variable dialog box is used to create virtual variables.

To display the New Variable dialog box:

  1. On the View menu, click Dataflow to display the Dataflow window.
  2. On the Shortcut menu (right-click), click New and select Variable.

  3. On the Object menu, click New and select Variable

To create a new variable:

  1. Under the Select Operator section, select an operator from the list.
    1. Enter text under Filter (whole or incomplete words in any order) to filter the Operator list. Operators that contain the filter text are displayed in the Operator list.
    2. - AND/OR -
    3. In the Operator group list, select the group that includes the required operator.
  2. Under the New virtual variable section, in the Name box, enter a name for the new variable.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Complete the Operands page of the Variable Properties dialog box.
  5. Click OK.

Note: An operator name display with the icon of a hare indicates that the operator is optimized for multi-threading on multi-core computers.
