Base module
The Base module enables you to:
- Load, calibrate and threshold digital data collected from all commonly-used echosounders and sonars
- Import waypoint files, maps, GPS data, 2D lines, 2D regions and 3D surfaces
- Export 2D lines and regions
- Visualize a wide range of aspects of these data via cruise-track graphs, single-beam echograms, tables, histograms, 2D line graphs, 2D scatterplots and 4D scenes
- Display, navigate and synchronize multiple data files and variables from multiple instruments with seamless scrolling across data-file boundaries
- Create 3D surfaces from lines and 4D curtains from echograms for 4D display
- Export 4D scenes to geo-referenced image files
- Access most of the other features of Echoview in Demonstration mode
The Base module has no prerequisite modules.
Bathymetric module
The Bathymetric module enables you to:
- Access all of Echoview's 2D line and line-pick operators
- Access all of Echoview's 2D line creation, editing and analysis functionality
- Export the position, depth and status of 2D lines
The Bathymetric module requires the Base module.
Analysis Export module
The Analysis Export module enables you to:
- Access all of Echoview's 2D region creation, editing, classification and analysis functionality
- Access a subset of Echoview's arithmetic, conversion, convolution, data-manipulation, imaging and single-target operators, providing the ability to perform a wide range of processing techniques on single-beam data
- Display 3D beam graphs of single targets
- Export the Sv, TS or angular-position values of single-beam and multibeam echogram samples
- Export single-target analyses
- Export echo-integration analyses by 2D cells and regions
- Create 4D targets from single-target echograms for 4D display and export
The Analysis Export module requires the Bathymetric module.
Live Viewing module
The Live Viewing module enables you to:
- Detect Echolog data broadcasts in real time from Simrad Ex500 and Ex60 echosounders
- Visualize and process these data in real time using the full functionality of Echoview (dependent on the availability of additional modules)
The Live Viewing module requires the Base module and an Echolog utility to be running.
EchoIMPACT Export module
The EchoIMPACT Export module enables you to:
- Export Sv and GPS data from all commonly-used echosounders and sonars to the SONAR and NAV file formats specified by Quester Tangent for import to their EchoIMPACT bottom-classification software
- Import SEABED files from EchoIMPACT for the 3D display of bathymetry and bottom type
The EchoIMPACT Export module requires the Base module for exports and the Bathymetric module for imports.
Virtual Echogram module
The Virtual Echogram module enables you to:
- Access all of Echoview's operators with the exception of those specific to the Stationary Sonar, 2D Sonar and 3D Sonar modules. These operators provide the ability to perform a comprehensive range of processing techniques on single-beam data
The Virtual Echogram module requires the Analysis Export module.
Fish Tracking module
The Fish Tracking module enables you to:
- Access the "alpha-beta" position/velocity algorithm to detect "fish" tracks (multiple instances of the same single target detected with a single beam sounder) and delineate them as 2D regions
- Display 2D plots (angles, TS vs depth, target length vs depth) and 3D single targets graphs (for split-beam data) of target tracks
- Edit and count 2D track regions
- Calculate and export the positional, morphological and temporal attributes of tracks
- Create 3D tracks from single-beam 2D track regions for 4D display (3D plus time) and export
The Fish Tracking module requires the Analysis Export module.

Schools Detection module
The Schools Detection module enables you to:
- Access the single-beam image-analysis algorithm to detect 2D "schools" (aggregations of biological targets detected with a single-beam sounder) and delineate them as 2D regions
- Calculate and export the positional, morphological and backscattered-energy attributes of 2D regions
The Schools Detection module requires the Analysis Export module.
Scripting module
The Scripting module enables you to:
- Run scripts or web pages (written in Visual Basic or other programming language) to automate any of Echoview's manual user-interface functions via interaction with Windows' COM functionality
The Scripting module requires the Analysis Export module.
Stationary Sonar module
The Stationary Sonar module enables you to:
- Visualize multibeam echograms for digital data collected from supported multibeam echosounders and sonars
- Access a fixed-platform-based subset of Echoview's multibeam operators, enabling you to perform a wide range of processing techniques on your multibeam data
- Create 3D single targets and tracks from multibeam single-target and track detections for 4D display (3D plus time) and export
- Create 3D surfaces from multibeam bottom detections for 3D display and export
The Stationary Sonar module includes the Fish Tracking module and requires the Analysis Export module.

2D Sonar module
The 2D Sonar module enables you to:
- Access all of Echoview's multibeam operators, enabling you to perform a comprehensive range of processing techniques on your multibeam data
- Export echo-integration analyses by 3D regions
The 2D Sonar module requires the Stationary Sonar module.
3D Sonar module
The 3D Sonar module enables you to:
- Access the "cruise-scanning" algorithm to automatically detect 3D "schools" (aggregations of biological targets detected with a multibeam sounder), delineate them as 3D regions and display/export them through 4D scenes
The 3D Sonar module requires the 2D Sonar module.
FSV-30R module
The FSV-30R module enables you to:
- Access the "Bottom echo bitmap" operator relevant to the Furuno FSV-30 (Research version) scanning sonar
- Access a number of integration algorithms relevant to the Furuno FSV-30R
The FSV-30R module requires the 3D Sonar module.
Echolog suite of utilities
Echolog 500 suite
The Echolog 500 suite includes four stand-alone utilities for users of Simrad Ex500 and Ex60 echosounders.
- Echolog 500 enables you to:
- Log data to Echoview's EK5 file format of EK500 telegrams broadcast from Simrad Ex500 and Ex60 echosounders over the BI500 port
- Ethernet broadcast these data for live viewing in Echoview
- Echoconfig 500 enables you to set up, save and edit Simrad Ex500 settings
- Echodepth enables you to display the sounder-detected bottom depth during logging
- Echosim 500 enables you to simulate a Simrad EK500. It is useful as a first step in setting up and testing Echolog 500
Echolog 60 suite
The Echolog 60 suite includes four stand-alone utilities for users of Simrad Ex60 echosounders.
- Echolog 60 enables you to:
- Log and compress data to Echoview's EK60 file format for RAW, OUT and BOT data broadcast from Simrad Ex60 echosounders
- Ethernet broadcast these data for live viewing in Echoview
- Echodepth enables you to display the sounder-detected bottom depth during logging
- Echozip 60 enables you to compress Simrad EK60 RAW, OUT and BOT files
- Echosim 60 enables you to simulate a Simrad Ex60. It is useful as a first step in setting up and testing Echolog 60
The Echolog utilities are free and have no prerequisite modules.
