Features of schools detection module

The schools detection module can be used for many purposes:

• Behavioral studies of school distribution and schooling behavior are facilitated by the ability to automatically detect schools in acoustic data.

• Schools detection be used to examine schools at the high level of temporal and spatial resolution that is inherent in acoustic data.

• The detection and integration of individual schools allows school-by-school estimates of biomass, which may represent an improvement over estimates of biomass based on mean biomass per EDSU.

• Allows use of the integration module to calculate some 30 morphometric and density parameters of detected fish schools and manually defined regions.

• Analysis of detected schools yields extensive parameter sets that can used as features for the purpose of classifying schools by species and age.
